The Education Pitstop

Hello, I’m Penny and I run The Education Pitstop in Kegworth – a little village in the East Midlands which is on the border of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. I am passionate about working with students who find education a bit trickier than might be expected.

I started my teaching career in London in 2007. I loved working as a Primary School Teacher but in 2016 I decided to branch off from mainstream teaching and I trained as a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) Specialist Teacher. After qualifying and working as a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher for several years, I furthered my training and qualified as a Dyslexia Assessor (with APC status). In 2024, I completed further training and qualified as a Specialist Dyscalculia Teacher and then completed the training to become a Dyscalculia Assessor.

I teach and assess students in my purpose-built garden office in Kegworth. It’s an ideal educational workspace, where students feel relaxed, comfortable and safe, allowing them to understand key concepts, build on their existing skills and develop strategies to support them in their lives.

I currently hold professional memberships with The Dyslexia Guild (MDG including APC), Patoss (PPM) and The British Psychological Society (BPS RQTU).
