My lessons are usually fully subscribed and I have an active waiting list.
Depending on the student’s needs, I sometimes run the educational assessment before a lesson space becomes available so that parents can begin to help at home and the information can be communicated with educators. However, other parents prefer to wait until a space is available before proceeding with the Educational Assessment.
Educational assessments are used to gather information about students who are struggling in school when interventions do not seem to be helping. They are used to identify strengths and weaknesses so that good quality and well-targeted intervention can take place. These assessments are carried out before a student attends lessons at The Education Pitstop.
Educational assessments can be carried out for any age of student and take around two hours (often split into two one-hour sessions).
If you would like to book your child for a dyslexia or dyscalculia assessment, please provide some additional information.
Diagnostic assessments are carried out to explore whether a student has dyslexia or dyscalculia (or both). These assessments follow the most recent SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) guidance (2025) and are written using the 2025 definitions of dyslexia and dyscalculia.
Diagnostic reports carried out by APC holders are valid for life and can be used as evidence for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) and Exam Access Arrangements. The minimum age for these assessments is 8 years old. Dyslexia and Dyscalculia assessment testing sessions take around four hours, depending on the student.
If you would like to book your child for a dyslexia or dyscalculia assessment, please provide some additional information.
